Mobile Workshop 2
Santa Barbara Counties Green-Gold Mine - Cannabis

CM|2.0
9:00 am  to 11:30 am
Additional $75 fee applies

It shocked some cannabis industry watchers last year when Santa Barbara County developed front-runner status in California by accruing the most marijuana cultivation licenses and permits of any other County. Humbolt, aka the Emerald Triangle and home to CSUs Humbolt Buds Ultimate Frisbee team, amongst many other illicit legends and urban myths, placed second. Now, the industrys personalities and infrastructure not to mention the smell are stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight. See two stops on the supply chain: an active (OK, legal-nonconforming) 4-acre greenhouse in Carpinteria to learn about growing techniques, security, water-use and odor control. Then stop at one of the three allowed and very few new recreational dispensaries where you will learn about market trends, product lines and the difference between CBD and THC. Registration does not include samples. Participants will be transported by bus from the hotel lobby at 9:00 AM and return by 11:30 AM, nice and hungry.

2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Additional $65 fee applies

See the Santa Barbara, Goleta and Gaviota coastline aboard the Santa Barbara Condor. The tour will be led by oil industry docents. The boat will then head into the Channel where participants will view and learn about the worlds largest naturally occurring oil seeps. The boat will then circle around Platform Holly where participants will learn about the platform operations. The summer season is an excellent chance to see Blue and Humpback whales in the Channel, amongst other marine mammals. Participants will learn the status of offshore operations in the channel, including decommissioning of Platform Holly, and what the future holds for operators as pipeline re-construction from the 2015 Refugio oil spill has been under a severe community and regulatory microscope.
